Port City Slayers were led to their 11 point victory by a 18 point effort from Jabar Gaffney, who tore apart the Kansas City Chiefs defense for 213 receiving yards. With this performance, Gaffney was the number 4 ranked overall fantasy scorer for week 17. They also got help from a 13 point effort from Aaron Rodgers, who got by the Arizona Cardinals defense for 235 passing yards and 1 passing TD in addition to 2 rushing yards.
"This team always seems to find a way to win," Port City Slayers coach Josh Hammond said.
Penn Yan Penguins were helped out in a losing cause by a 15 point effort from Ben Roethlisberger, who got by the Miami Dolphins defense for 220 passing yards and 3 passing TDs in addition to 17 rushing yards. With this performance, Roethlisberger was the number 4 ranked quarterback for week 17. They also got help from a 14 point effort from the New York Jets Defensive Team.
"Not to take away anything from our opponents, but we didn't play like we're capable of playing," Penn Yan Penguins coach Neal Fischer said.
Adding salt to the wound, Penn Yan Penguins could have scored 78 points and earned the win with their best lineup, but Neal Fischer left key players like Arian Foster and his corresponding 15 points on the bench.
Penn Yan Penguins drew the short straw with their schedule this week, as their point total would have resulted in a win against 13 out of 14 other potential opponents in week 17. This brings the record for Port City Slayers to 11-3, and drops Penn Yan Penguins to a record of 9-5.
